Improvement of one internal system to be accessed through Intranet.

When I joined the project I had to organize myself in order to learn as much as possible about the application in a very short period of time because there were change requests and outstanding record problems in the ClearQuest Change Management Tool.

I organized the various Users and Passwords of multiple servers, I mapped all the 97 database tables, I studied all available documents, as well as the source code in many application layers. Soon I became able to work on several outstanding items. I identified the logic and mappped the source codes responsible for the spreading of the financial targets to the lower levels, resulting in an increase or reduction of resources in certain areas, divisions and departments down to the number of resources in its various JRSS Job Role Skill Set. There were several different propagation logics according to the many plane types. I did a reverse engineering to identify the logic and source codes responsible for controling attritions, exporting of data in an Excel template and importing the changes back to the application. My main contributions of the project were:

  • I generated a version of the application that exported the data at some critical points to assist in data load analysis and understanding of the system. It was extremely helpful.
  • Complementei the database documentation with two levels of relationship to each table as well as the first records for rapid semantic query. Got an excellent control over the tables often helping the DBA in data manipulation tasks and tables.
  • Analyzed several loads of data coming from other systems by identifying inconsistencies indicating the necessary corrections to the charges.
  • I worked on several records of problems and improvements requests providing a solution design detail that resulted in code changes , the structure and contents of database tables , as well as in Excel template used to export and import data changes back for the application.
  • I provided estimates for implementation of improvements requests done by the customer. I generated the solution designs and presented them in meetings. I implemented those that were approved.
  • I controlled the various versions of the code with the versioning control system CVS.
  • I coordinated the code deployment on the development, acceptance and production environments.
  • I analyzed and solved urgent problems found in the production environment.
  • I introduced the test plan documentation and test results documents, which greatly improved the validation process of the problem tickets and the implementation of improvements.
  • I assisted the implementation of various resources plans like the mid-year cycle, which generates a big resource plan a four-year window.
  • The organization had set a new visual standard for all Intranet applications. Thus, I did an analysis of the current state of the application by request of the Project Manager. I identified strengths, weaknesses of the applicaton. I provided a review of the improvements list, the outstanding points which would require structural changes and what actions would be necessary for the migration to the new visual standard.
