General problems
A department that provided services for a telecommunications company had to control the use of software licenses of the customer. The systems that the department had were designed to control assets as servers, printers, racks and office equipments in general and these systems did not offer the enough functionality to control the use of software.
In order to be able to control the use of software licenses a system need to record several information as the available version, the amount of licenses, where the copies of the software were installed and uninstalled, where the installation disks are located, it is desirable to allow remote installation of software, among other controls.
